OceanaireOceanaire provides a well rounded dining experience It’s sometimes hard to find a restaurant that impresses on all levels of the dining experience. Because of the high quality that I provide to my clients, I expect that same quality when dining out. The food should taste fresh and delicious, be pleasing to the eye, and leave you feeling satisfied but not over-stuffed or bloated. The service should be attentive, friendly, and professional, and you should never have to wonder “where is that server?” or “why am I on course three and yet have no bread or beverage?” The ambience should match the style of cuisine, the restaurant should be clean, and the dining experience comfortable. I find it rare (in San Diego) that a restaurant fulfills all three categories of this total experience. Oceanaire, a highly recommended restaurant, not only satisfied our expectations, but surpassed them. The server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu andingredients, and helped us to narrow down our selections from the vast arrayof delicious sounding appetizers and entrees with his honest suggestions. We later discovered he had worked for years as an executive chef, hence the culinary expertise. We started with a glass of Vueve Cliquot and oysters on the half shell (which our server helped us with- they offer a large variety of oysters). We continued on with calamari- the dish that I most frequently sample by which to judge a restaurant. Their calamari, fried and tossed in a spicy southwestern chili was to die for! Very unique and inspired, and yet comfortable in its consistency to what one expects with calamari. The salad was with smoked salmon and lemony creme fraiche over mixed baby greens. For dinner we split the rare yellowtail with crispy leeks and mashed potatoes, accompanied by delightfully paired pinotnoir.
